Jenna Mathewson, MA
Jenna Mathewson, MA, is the Executive Director and Social Work Supervisor at Nathanson Adoption Services. Jenna holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee in child and family studies and a minor in psychology. Her master’s degree is from Liberty University in human service counseling and is accompanied with a concentration in executive leadership.
Before coming to Nathanson, Jenna spent time helping individuals with persistent mental illnesses who were experiencing homelessness. She realized that her true passion lay with advocating for children and families so she began working for a therapeutic foster care agency in Tennessee. In this role, Jenna used her expertise regarding trauma, family dynamics, and child development to help families as they offered children a supportive and loving environment. Jenna eventually moved into a role of an adoption specialist where she focused on creating permanency for children in need of a family. This time of counseling families regarding the adoption process and overcoming possible struggles solidified in Jenna a love for growing families through the gift of adoption.
After Jenna and her family re-located to Charlotte, she began working as a homestudy specialist for Nathanson before becoming the Executive Director. As a mother of two young children, Jenna understands the importance of helping people realize their dreams of becoming parents. Jenna considers it an honor to be trusted with each family’s unique story and to assist them on their adoption journey.
When you call our office, chances are the friendly voice you hear will be that of Parisa Couzzi, our Office Administrator. Parisa has fourteen years’ experience providing administrative support to senior level executives in the construction, service, and retail industries. In June 2006 Parisa felt compelled to change her focus and responded to an advertisement to work for Nathanson Adoption Services. “As the parent of a child adopted domestically at birth I felt that this is where I should be. Every position I have had until now was just a job – now I feel fulfilled at the end of the day knowing that we are enabling others to experience the same joy I feel when I look at my daughter each day.”
Parisa is extremely well organized, warm, and knowledgeable. Feel free to call her with any homestudy questions – she loves helping our adoptive families!
